PASSERIFORMES: Petroicidae
Microeca fascinans
Once commonly known as the Brown Flycatcher, the Jacky Winter is a member of the family Petroicidae which includes all the Australian robins.
The Jacky Winter often perches on a stump or low branch and flies and swoops down onto prey like a robin, or chases flying prey like a flycatcher.
In either case, its distinctive white outer tail-feathers are usually clearly visible.
